The purpose of additional postgraduate training is: specialized improvement of professional training of a specialist by deepening, expanding and updating his professional knowledge, abilities and skills.
The specificity of the work is related to the provision of advanced training of specialists who already have work experience, which requires the maximum approximation of the pedagogical process to practical health care.
Specialization and advanced training of doctors and pharmacists (cycles of thematic improvement, pre-certification, internships).
Additional training of specialists is carried out in the following directions:
- specialization — acquisition by a person of the ability to perform separate tasks and duties, which have specific features, within the limits of the specialty;
- improvement — acquisition by a person of the ability to perform additional tasks and duties within the specialty.
The main tasks of the courses are:
- meeting the needs of institutions and organizations in improving the qualifications and retraining of junior medical and pharmaceutical specialists;
- updating and deepening of professional knowledge;
- ensuring operative mastering by specialists of modern achievements of medical science and practice;
- providing a new qualification, a new specialty;
- consistent implementation of activities aimed at improving quality, expanding practical orientation, improving forms and methods of education;
- carrying out, based on the results of training specialists, a comprehensive assessment of professional knowledge, skills and abilities, business qualities and, on this basis, making recommendations to heads of institutions for their further use;
- certification of junior specialists with medical and pharmaceutical education.
SPECIALIZATIONS AND RE-TRAINING COURSES
Specialization of doctors is carried out in specialties that are not provided for in the internship, is carried out in specialization cycles after the end of the internship in the main specialty. A doctor or pharmacist can specialize in several specialties.
The procedure for enrolling in specialization cycles is regulated by the order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No. 166 dated 22.07.1993 “On the further improvement of the system of post-graduate training of doctors (pharmacists)” and the order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine dated 19.12.1997 No. 359 “On the further improvement of the certification of doctors”
Retraining of a doctor or a pharmacist-specialist is carried out in new medical (pharmacist) specialties.
Retraining is the acquisition by a doctor (pharmacist) of a second (secondary) specialty carried out under the direction of the regional health care departments, SES, structural divisions of the Higher Education Institution “Pharmacy”, with justification of the need for such retraining, provided that this specialist has worked under the state allocation of at least 3 years after obtaining the preliminary specialty at the internship in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine dated 12.12.2003 No. 818 “On improving the certification of pharmacists and pharmacists”.
Changing the specialties of the medical-prophylactic and pediatric profiles to the specialty of the “treatment” profile can only be done with the permission of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
IMPROVEMENT
The following types of training are subject to improvement: thematic improvement, pre-certification cycles, information and internship courses, professional development at the workplace
Thematic improvement
Thematic improvement involves improving the qualifications of doctors and pharmacists and professionals with a higher non-medical education who work in the health care system in separate sections of the relevant specialty during the period of HMAPO between passing pre-certification cycles, with the aim of maintaining a modern level of training.
Pre-certification cycles
Pre-certification cycles are carried out in accordance with the orders of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine: No. 166 dated 22.07.1993 “On further improvement of the system of postgraduate training of doctors (pharmacists), No. 359 dated 19.12.1997 “On further improvement of the certification of doctors”, No. 73 dated 18.05.94 “On the approval of the Regulation on conducting examinations in pre-certification cycles”, No. 484 dated 07.07.2009 “On the approval of Amendments to the Regulation on conducting examinations in pre-certification cycles”, No. 818 dated 12.12.2006 “On improving the certification of pharmacists and pharmacists” and No. 588 dated August 12, 2009 “On certification of professionals with higher non-medical education who work in the health care system.”
Internship of doctors
Internship cycles are provided for doctors, pharmacists who have not worked for more than three years in a specific medical specialty, and persons who have not timely passed certification for a qualification category or who have been denied the assignment (confirmation) of a second qualification category.
Internship of doctors (providers) is carried out at the faculty of postgraduate education under the direction of regional health care departments. The internship period (from one to six months) is determined in each case separately by the health care authority that directs him to the internship. The procedure for the internship is regulated by the order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine dated March 17, 1993 No. 48 “On the procedure for sending doctors to internships and their subsequent admission to medical practice”.

After successful completion of internship, doctors (pharmacists) undergo attestation to determine
knowledge and practical skills with the issuance of a certificate of a specialist in a certain specialty.
Information courses and internships
Information courses and internships are a type of professional development for doctors (pharmacists), the task of which is to study relevant theoretical issues and acquire practical skills from the relevant section of the specialty.
The procedure for advanced training at information and internship courses is determined by the Regulation on advanced training of doctors and pharmacists at information and internship courses, approved by Order No. 166 of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine dated July 22, 1993.
